Bunt defense

Pitcher-to-third bunt coverage

In the pitcher-to-third coverage, the pitcher breaks toward the third-base line on every pitch so the third baseman can stay home. The first baseman charges, the second baseman covers first and the shortstop covers second.

It's used with a runner on first when your third baseman is your best glove at the bag, or when you expect a slash (the batter shows bunt, then swings) and want him back to defend it.

The pitcher takes any bunt on the left side. A bunt to the first-base side belongs to the charging first baseman.
