Privacy policy
Effective October 21, 2026
The short version
- We collect only what the app needs: an email address to sign in, your age group (never your birthday) and your Learn progress.
- Questions typed into Chat go to our AI provider to be answered. We don't save them, and they aren't used to train AI models.
- No ads. We never sell personal information or share it with advertisers.
- Players under 13 need a parent or guardian's approval before we save anything from them.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app's menu.
Baseball Playmaker teaches baseball positions, game situations and rules through our app at app.baseballplaymaker.com and this website, baseballplaymaker.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who handles it, how long we keep it and the choices you have. "We" and "us" mean Baseball Playmaker. "You" means anyone who uses the app or the website, and for a player under 13, their parent or guardian too.
1. What we collect
Without an account
You can use Game Situations, the fly ball tool and your first Learn session without an account. We don't collect anything that identifies you. Your progress, streak and settings are saved in your browser's storage on your device and stay there.
When you create an account
- Email address. It's your account. We use it to send sign-in codes and links (there's no password) and messages about your account.
- Age group. We ask everyone for a birth month and year, work out whether you're under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 or older, and keep only that. We don't store the birthday.
- Role, if you choose one: player, parent or coach.
- How you found us, such as which button on this website you tapped to open the app, so we know which pages help people find Playmaker.
- Learn progress: the questions you've answered and how you did, your streak and your XP, so they follow you to any device.
- For a player under 13: when their parent or guardian approved the account, and which version of our parent notice they approved.
When you use Chat
The question you type, and the earlier questions and answers in the same conversation, are sent to our server and on to our AI provider to produce an answer. We don't store Chat questions or answers. Please don't type personal information into Chat; it isn't needed to answer a baseball question.
Payments
Paid plans aren't available yet. When they are, payments will be handled by a payment processor, and we'll update this policy before then. We will never see or store full card numbers.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and basic browser and device details when a page loads. We use them to deliver the app, to protect it from abuse, and to limit how many Chat questions can be asked in a short time. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't track you across other websites. Browser storage keeps you signed in and keeps the progress you make on your device.
2. How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, save your progress and show it on your other devices.
- To answer your Chat questions.
- To send sign-in codes and messages about your account, including the notice and confirmation we send a parent.
- To keep the app secure and working, and to stop abuse.
- To understand which pages and buttons bring people to Playmaker.
- To follow the law.
We don't use personal information for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't build profiles to target anyone.
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that run Playmaker for us, and only what each one needs to do its job:
| Company | What it does for us | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in | Email address, age group, role, how you found us, Learn progress, parent approval records |
| Resend | Sends our emails | Email address and the email we send |
| Vercel | Hosts the app and website and runs our server | IP address and requests, including Chat questions on their way to be answered |
| Anthropic | The AI that answers Chat | The Chat question and conversation. We don't send your email address or name. |
| Google Fonts and jsDelivr | Deliver the app's fonts and sign-in code library | IP address and browser details |
Anthropic doesn't use what we send it to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days unless it has to keep it longer for safety or legal reasons.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if Baseball Playmaker is sold or merged, in which case this policy keeps applying to the information. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
4. Players under 13
Playmaker is built for players, including Little League players under 13. We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Everyone is asked their age. If a player tells us they're under 13, we don't take their email address. We ask for a parent or guardian's email instead.
- We tell the parent first. We email the parent a notice explaining what we collect and why, with a link and a code.
- The parent approves. The parent opens the link, or enters the code on the player's device, reviews the notice, and confirms they are the player's parent or legal guardian. We then send the parent a confirmation email with instructions for undoing the approval.
- Nothing is saved first. Until a parent approves, we save nothing from the player: no Learn progress and no Chat. If a parent doesn't approve within 7 days, we delete their email address and the waiting account.
- What we collect after approval is listed in section 1: the parent's email address (the account's email), the age group, role, how they found us, Learn progress and the approval record. Chat questions are answered and not saved.
- Who sees it. Only the service providers in section 3, and only to run Playmaker. We don't make a child's information public, we show no ads, and we don't disclose it to anyone else. A parent can agree to us collecting and using their player's information without agreeing to any other disclosure; we make none.
- We only collect what's needed. We never require a player to give more information than a feature needs.
- A parent's rights. A parent can review their player's information, have it deleted, and stop any further collection at any time. In the app, open the menu and choose Delete account, or email privacy@baseballplaymaker.com. Before showing anyone a player's information, we check that they're the parent, for example by sending a code to the account's email.
- How long we keep it. Until the account is deleted, or 12 months after the account was last used (signed in to or used for a Learn session), whichever comes first.
5. Players 13 to 17
Teens can create their own accounts. We collect the same things as for any account, never sell their information and never use it for advertising.
6. How long we keep it
- Accounts and Learn progress: until you delete the account. Under-13 accounts are also deleted after 12 months without use.
- Unapproved under-13 sign-ups: deleted after 7 days.
- Chat: not stored by us. Our AI provider deletes it within 30 days, as described in section 3.
- Server logs and sent-email records: kept by our hosting and email providers for a limited time for security and delivery, then deleted.
When you delete your account, we delete your email address, profile and Learn progress from our database straight away. Copies in our providers' backups are removed on their normal backup schedule.
7. How we protect it
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each account can read only its own data, and access to our systems is limited to the people who run Playmaker. There are no passwords to steal: you sign in with a code sent to your email. We keep a written information security program, and we review it at least once a year. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
8. Your choices and rights
- See your information or get a copy of it.
- Correct it, if anything we hold is wrong.
- Delete it: open the app's menu and choose Delete account, or email us.
- Stop using Playmaker at any time. Without an account, nothing about you leaves your device.
Some states give residents extra privacy rights. We give these choices to everyone, wherever they live. Email privacy@baseballplaymaker.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. We won't use a player's information in a materially different way without first asking their parent again.
