Fly balls
Peeling off
Peeling off means a fielder who has been called off a fly ball turns away from the catch and gets out of the way, usually moving to back up the player who has it.
Everyone who can reach a fly ball runs for it at full speed. When a player with priority calls for it, the others peel: they veer away from the ball's path instead of stopping in it, then drift behind the catch in case it's dropped.
Peeling depends on the call. A player who stops on his own, without hearing one, is how balls drop between two fielders.
